In the sand arena the five-year-old show jumpers jumped the first part of the KWPN Championship for the Blom Cup. 61 of them did so with a clear result.

The total of 103 competitors may, apart from two duos that were excluded today, all start in the second part. This is scheduled for tomorrow from 09.30 hours in the main arena, on the grass.

Among the faultless combinations today were several KWPN-approved stallions. Jarno van Erp, for example, sent the Aganix du Seigneur son Mindset ES (by Hosanne ES keur sport-spr pref by Kannan, f/g Egbert Schep) clear over the finish line and also Maestro Gusto van de Laarse Heide (Comme Il Faut by Bella Donna van de Laarse Heide Z keur sport-spr by Bustique, f/g family Zandbergen from Zundert) under Nikita Cheung, Horizontal (Casall out of Mel d'Argences by Quick Star, breeder Jan Tops from Valkenswaard) under Finn Boerekamp, Stargos VDL (Stakkato Gold out of Estella by Conthargos, breeder W. Winkeler from Herzlake) with Iris Hakvoort in the saddle and Mees van de Watermolen (Vannan from Holinda ster by Carambole, f/g Jan Greve from Haaksbergen) with Renske Kroeze stayed clear in the first round. Another striking name is the clear jumping Mette VDL (Etoulon VDL out of Fresia by Olivia VDL of Cardento, f/g VDL Stud) under Age Flapper. This mare was crowned NMK champion two years ago.
