Roelof Bril surprised as breeder of the year in Valkenswaard
Release date: 11/08/2021
Just after the final of the five-year-olds, the KWPN provided a nice surprise for Roelof Bril. He was honored as Breeder of the Year 2021 in the jumping direction!Normally, the Breeder of the Year is announced during the National Mare Inspection, but as a true sports and breeding man Roelof Bril was present in Valkenswaard every day and this was a wonderful opportunity to put him in the spotlight.
Images of some successful breeding products from the international show jumper were shown on the large screens, who bred striking horses mainly with mares and stallions that he had ridden himself. Most striking is of course the KWPN-recognized stallion Darry Lou (Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve out of Venus elite sport-jump perst PROK by Nabab de Rêve), who achieved great success with Alberto Aldana and later Beezie Madden and now by Nayel Nassar is being driven. Other highlights from Roelof Bril's breeding are the KWPN-approved stallion F-One USA (by Toulon), who, like Darry Lou, goes directly back to the Grand Prix mare Burggravin and performs at the highest level herself with Emily Moffitt, the Grand Prix show jumper Dizzy Lizzy (s.Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve) and the KWPN-approved stallions Key West (s.Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve), Homerun (s.Vivant van de Heffinck), Lazzaro (s.Homerun), Invictus ( v.El Salvador) and My Choice (s.Invictus).
“This was a lovely surprise! I knew nothing about it and thought Henk Dirksen sounded a bit nervous when he called me to ask if I was there yet. We will soon have horses with the four-year-olds, so I wasn't here that early. But this is a very nice award, as a breeder I try to go for the highest achievable and it is great that our breeding has already produced several top showjumping horses”, responded the brand new Breeder of the Year.
