Victory for Gerben Morsink

Release date: 10/08/2019

The second day of the Longines Global Champions Tour at Tops International Arena was opened with a competition for six- and seven-year-old horses. Holland’s Gerben Morsink was the fastest this time with the six-year-old Carsey Z (ZANG, Carthino Z x Guidam). The 30 year old rider, who won silver at the National championships last year, was happy with his victory “This is such a great horse. He has a covering canter and that’s why this big arena suits him so well. We also won a class in Eindhoven last May.” Carsey Z was bred by the Morsink family. “That makes it extra special. I have also ridden his sire and dam, Persey, and maybe that is why I understand him so well,” said Gerben afterwards.
Runner-up was France’s Simon Delestre with Contharkata PS (OS, Conthargos x Stakkato). The USA’s Spencer Smith, son of Emily and Ken Smith of Ashland Farm (Wellington), finished in third place with Candar Mail (SF, Lando  Fergar Mail).

The young horses will be back for the final tomorrow at 1 pm.
