Kasper De Boeck wants to reach the top
Release date: 09/08/2019
He is one of the youngest riders who are competing at Tops International Arena this weekend: the 12-year-old Kasper De Boeck from Belgium. He made his international debut in June 2018 at the CSI Lier when he was only 11-years-old.Today he competed in Valkenswaard for the first time and he finished runner-up with Caramel Wijngaardhoeve Z and sixth with Gerenia in the 1.10m (CSI1*).
It all started when he visited horse shows with his father when he was seven-years-old. He loved it and soon he had a pony of his own, Rosse. We jumped his first competitions with this pony. “This pony taught me a lot, my position and learning how to jump,” tells Kasper.
Last year he turned to horses and he started to ride the two horses he is competing in Valkenswaard. Kasper has no preference when it comes to his two horses, “they are both good horses and we started this year very well with a victory and several top five placings in Monaco.”
Kasper fully concentrates on riding and has no time for other hobbies. His friend are all riders. He is trained by Mike Hazebroek, from whom they bought Rosse, from the start. “He is very strict, but I learn a lot. Mike thinks it is especially important to keep your rhythm during a course,” explains Kasper.
When we ask him where he would like to train if he was given the chance he answers without hesitation, “Marcus Ehning! He makes things look so easy, it is great to watch.” His biggest dream is to compete in the Longines Global Champions Tour one day. Well, he heading in the right direction!
