All young horses at the Longines Global Future Champion had to jump a Table A against the clock, so speed was important. It resulted in great sport and exciting classes. Fastest rider of the day was without doubt Britain’s Laura Renwick.
In the six-year-old division she was unbeatable. She finished first and runner-up. She won the class with the gelding Sky’s The Limit (No Limit x Tristan de Quelen), a horse who she bred herself. According to Laura “he is super careful and very fast. He jumped at the Villamoura Tour at the beginning of this year and became champion in the six-year-old division. After that he had a break and we continue our season here in Valkenswaard.” Laura finished runner-up with the Holsteiner mare Claretina (Clarimo x Caretino), who she is riding for three years. “I had the chance to see how she would react yesterday and I knew I could go faster today and it all worked out.” Third place went to Holland’s Bas Moerings and Ipsthar (KWPN, Denzel v. Meulenhof x Farmer). Moerings won team gold at the European Championships for Young Riders in Zuidwolde last weekend.
At the end of the afternoon Renwick rushed to victory in the competition for five-year-olds with Cottee (Asterix E Z x Couleur Rubin) and also took third place with Maleficent (Typhoon S x Dollar Dela Pierre). Compatriot Charlene Bastone finished runner-up with Elixir du Paradis (Clinton x Indoctro).
Britain’s Laura Mantel repeated yesterday’s victory in the seven-year-olds division with Muna v. Bisschop (BWP, Cornet Obolensky x Nabab de Rêve). The combination was over 2 seconds faster than Brazilian top rider Marlon Modolo Zanotelli with My Way B.&V. (BWP, Emerald x Nabab de Rêve). Italy’s Roberto Previtali finished in third place with Uma Z (ZANG, Untouchable x Indoctro).
Belgium’s Karel Cox and his Oldenburger mare Cava (Cadensky x Clinton I) won the competition for eight-year-olds after a super fast round in 64.59 seconds. It was nearly 4 seconds faster than runner-up Cressy Neads. Yesterday Cox and Cava had also the fastest round, but at the expense of one pole down. Cava was formerly ridden by Ive Tonet and is with Cox for half a year now. Cox finished seventh with Gaucho and he hopes “to win the final tomorrow with one of these two horses.” Britain’s Neads finished runner-up with Baladine du Chanu (Kannan x Papillon Rouge). Third place went to Holland’s Wout-Jan van der Schans with A.S. Bombay (KWPN, Diamant de Semilly x Contender).
