There is a lot of talent present at the third event at the beautiful facililties at Tops International Arena in Valkenswaard. One of those talents is the DWB mare Calina (Ci Ci Senjor ASK x Cornet Obolensky), who won the class for seven-year-olds with Harrie Smolders. The mare, who is owned by Brasil’s Lucas Luz, won the Danish Championship for Young Horses in Herning in 2017. The same year she also won the final of the DRF Championship for five-year-olds at Blue Hors. Luz was very happy: “She is a wonderful horse, she jumps like a catapult.
Runners-up in this 2 Phases competition (1.35m) were Piet Raijmakers Jr and the mare Olaya Z (ZANG, Ogano Sitte x Concorde) and Germany’s David Will finished in third place with the Holstein mare Cera (Cachas x Lavall I).

Victory in the six-year-olds division went to Britain’s Emma Stoker and the Hannoverian gelding Q Seven (Quaid x Stakkato). It is 26-year-old Emma’s third week in Valkenswaard where she is competing with 11 horses. She rides the horses of Bob Young who bought Q Seven as a four-year-old. Emma was really happy with her victory: “In the past two weeks I finished second and now I finally won.” According to Emma the gelding is a sensitive horse, but very carefull and he wants to win. “It was his first real big show. He has learnt so much these past weeks. It is just perfect here for young horses.”
Jude Burgess and Ivascalle (Baltic VDL x Lincoln) finished runners-up for Great Britain and Belgium’s Guy Janssens took third place with Nostalgie (BWP, by Emerald van ’t Ruytershof).

Holland’s Cheryl Sjouke was thrilled about her victory in the class for five-year-olds. The 27-year-old rider, who runs her own stables, won with the KWPN stallion J. Triovador (El Salvador x Szkopul). FOX CAPITAL owns the stallion and is also Cheryl’s sponsor. According to Cheryl J. Triovador “is a great horse, he is like a scooter, you mount, start and you go!” Cheryl is trained by Leon Kuijpers and she says “the most important lesson I learnt from Leon was how to sit.”
