CSI1*: young generation excels
Release date: 06/05/2019
The first CSI1* Big Tour class was won by Belgium’s Alexander Housen, who was very successful last year at Tops International Arena when he won six classes. Out of the six he won five with the same horse he won with today, Esprit van de Wellington. Alexander has had a tough time: “Esprit’s owner, Leon Spronken, deceased this year at the age of 55. He was a real friend to me. In addition the horse I won team gold at the Europeans last year, Galoubet Fravanca, died of colic.” This victory is therefore very welcome for the young rider from Gruitrode. Holland’s Maikel van Mierlo finished runner-up with Gycara. Jillian Terceira, who rides for Bermuda, took third place with Iluna di Cantero.Yves Winkelmolen (NED) won the Medium Tour with Hilton. Yves runs his own stable since two years and rides horses for owners and sell horses. Yves rides Hilton for three months: “She has a real good attitude and is very careful.” Britain’s Caroline Breen, who won the 1.10m class earlier today, finished runner-up with Kilmastulla Douglas followed by Tess Carmichael with E. Harley.
