Dutch and Belgian riders dominate

Exactly 61 young horses competed in this class this morning, a Table A against the clock. Belgium’s Melanie Gelin was the fastest with the Zangersheide mare Attoucha Hero Z (Aganix du Seigneur x Diamant de Semilly). The 37-year-old rider from Liege had a clear round in 63.01 seconds. Lieven Van Decrean, Attoucha’s owner: “This mare has so much power, she wants to win and she has a very good character. I foresee a great future for here.” Van Decraen also owns a full sister of Attoucha, Alana Hero Z. Both mares were bred by Luc Henry. “Melanie will ride Attouche at the World Championships for Young Horses in September in Lanaken.”
The runner-up spot was for the 21-year-old American Spencer Smith with Ayade Hero Z (Zang, Aganix du Seigneur x HH Radco). Rene Lopez from Columbia finished in third with Berlioz de Bedon (SF, Kannan GFE x Coriano).

Victory in the Medium Tour was for a Dutch rider: 39-year-old Mathijs van Asten with the nine-year-old mare Call Girl 5 (Holst, Cassini II x Quidam de Revel). “It was a pleasant and beautiful course and it suited Call Girl perfectly.” Mathijs is riding the mare for over a year. “She is a tall mare with many qualities.” The USA’s Hilary McNerney finished runner-up with Bohemian Rhapsody (KWPN, Balourado x Fruhling). Third place went to Msciwoj Kiecon from Poland with Cedrick 11.
The Big Tour (1.45m) first prize also went to a Dutch rider: Gert-Jan Bruggink. The 37-year-old rider from De Lutte has saddles the 15-year-old gelding Vampire (AES, Marome NW x Voltaire) for this class. Belgium’s Constant Van Paesschen was runner-up with Verdi Treize (Diamant de Semilly x Eiger I) followed by compatriot Jos Verlooy in third with  SF hengst Romeo de Villaret (Mr. Blue x If de Merze).  
Yesterday Alexander Housen was runner-up but today he won the Small Tour with Esprit van de Wellington (BWP, Orlando x Gratianus). Alexander won three classes in May and July at Tops International Arena with this horse.

The 13-year-old student of Eric Lamaze, Ansgar Holtgers Jr, won the Special Invitational by Magic Moments Medium Tour (1.25m) with the KWPN mare Emember. Ansgar trains with Lamaze since December and Eric advised him with the purchase of this horse. “The most important things Eric has taught me so far is that I have to take my time and to have patience. He has already taught me so much!” His favourite horse is “Athina Onassis’s Going Global, such an allround horse and very brave.”
Ireland’s Lucinda Roche won the Big Tour (1.35m)  with Izar LB (Crazyhorse of Coco x Damoiseau). In the Small Tour (1.15m) Holland’s Max van der Rijt crossed the finish line in the fastest time with  Freiminka’s Blue Diamond (KWPN, Mr. Blue).
