Bertram Allen beats Jessica Springsteen in Big Tour

Irish top rider Bertram Allen repeated last year’s victory in the Big Tour with Christy Jnr (BWP, Indoctro x Clinton I). Then they won exactly the same class on the Tuesday of the second event. He crossed the finish line in 60.64 seconds. Runner-up was the USA’s Jessica Springsteen with RMF Chacco Top (Hann., Chacco-Blue x Graf Top). The 26-year-old daughter of Bruce and Patti Springsteen finished in 61.12. Holland’s  Sanne Thijssen finished in third place with Carinja (Holst., For Fashion x Carinjo).
 
The Medium Tour was won by Patrick McEntee (AZB) and the 10-year-old mare April Mury Marais Z (Zang., Air Jordan Z x Quinar Z). The pair was the fastest in the 25-horse jump-off. McEntee rides for the Mury Marais Stud, owned by Catherine de Buyl, since 1998. Britain’s Chloe Winchester finished runner-up with Charming Fellow Z (Zang., Clinton x Cappucino v. Berkenbroek). Pieter Devos took third place with Flash (KWPN, Numero Uno x Indoctro).
 
Spain’s Carlos López-Fanjul Tariere won the Small Tour class with the 11-year-old gelding Cerano (KWPN, Ukato x Cavalier). The 32-year-old rider from Oviedo, who is trained by Eric van der Vleuten, rode a clear round in the jump-off in 36.74 seconds. Medium Tour winner Patrick McEntee was runner-up with Alice Mury Marais Z followed by Holland’s Aniek Diks with Winston Jumper R.

The Big Tour was won by Belgium’s Alexander Housen and the 14-year-old mare Esprit van de Wellington (BWP, Orlando x Gratianus). The son of international rider Camilla Hauglin and Wim Housen, owners of New Nordic Horses in Gruitrode, is only 16-year-old. He had a clear round in 61.82 seconds. Mexican Mariel Victoria Aguirre and Taormina finished runners-up. They were nearly three seconds slower: 64.67. Third place went to Britain’s Claire Beecroft and Sam W.

Victory in the Small Tour stayed in the Netherlands. Aniek Diks won this class with super fast time. The rider from Vorstenbosch needed 61.39 seconds to finish the course with her KWPN mare Hortensia-H. British rider Carmen Edwards and Hopscotch stayed clear but lacked some speed, 64.52, and finished in second place. Natasha Dunsdon finished third with Captain Morgan FW.

Just a bit later Aniek Diks also won the Medium Tour. She saddled Alieone for this class, the horse with which she also won yesterday’s class. Aniek and the 13-year-old KWPN mare (Gentleman x Zuidhorn) are in very good shape and again the rode a perfect round in 59.25 seconds. Denmark’s Kristine Seierstad finished runner-up with Corsini (60.23) followed by Claire Beecroft (GBR) in third place with Vanda Cartier (60.52).
