Great day at Tops international Arena
Release date: 12/08/2017
Saturday turned out to be a great day at Tops International Arena. There was not only top sport but also a great ambiance. A big crowd came to Valkenswaard to watch the sport and to enjoy the atmosphere. In addition to the second round of the Global Champions League and the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix presented by Sapinda, there were another seven classes. The Young Horses class was won by Holland’s Bert-Jan van de Pol and his seven-year-old Zangersheide gelding Looyman Z (Numero Uno x Wellington). The combination jumped a nice clear round in 61.92 seconds. Looyman came to Bert-Jan’s stable as a four-year-old. “I have high expectations of her, where ever we go we always have good results. He has a super character, he is very careful, very fast and agile and a great gallop.” Bert-Jan owns Looyman Z together with W.M.J. Looymans.
Runner-up was Belgium’s top rider Olivier Philippaerts with his mare Anaelle de Lojou. Damien de Chambord finished, like yesterday, in third place with Aicha de Coquerie.
The main class of the CSI2* was won by Alberto Zorzi, the stable rider of Stal Tops. His KWPN mare Danique (Zento x Hamlet) is owned by Athina Onassis. “She is a great horse. Sensitive, powerful but at the same time careful.”
Belgium’s Jerôme Guery finished runner-up with Artiste de l’Abbaye d’Aulne followed by his fellow countryman Jos Verlooy with Gaston van ’t Steentje.
