Dutch riders dominate Young Horse Finals
Release date: 17/05/2017
Holland’s Aniek Diks was too fast for the other competitors in the Final for seven-year-olds. In the jump-off she made good use of the handiness of her impressive (1.76m) mare Fiarabo (KWPN, Diarado x Padinus) who she rides for the breeder, M. Smits. “Fiarabo can switch very quickly and has a good gallop. I think I won time with a very short turn towards the vertical,” she said afterwards. Aniek runs her own stable in Vorstenbosch were she rides her own horses and horses of other owners. She is also into breeding and has her own KWPN approved stallion, Emir R.Runners-up were Patrick Lemmen and the KWPN gelding Fascinating Fortuna (Zapatero VDL x Verdi) and third place went to well-known Belgian rider Pieter Devos with Flash (KWPN, Numero Uno x Indoctro).
The six-year-old class was won by Harrie Smolders who rode a super round with the French-bred stallion Bingo Ste Hermelle (Number One Disc x Diamant de Semilly). “I rode him for the first time last week and just tried how he felt. This week he gave me a good feeling and in today’s jump-off he really went for it and I could ride him flat out.” Bingo, who already performed well during the stallion competitions this spring, will be ridden by an other rider at Euro Horse in the future.
Second place went the Israël’s Danielle Goldstein and her KWPN mare G-Vingino-Blue (Zirocco Blue VDL x Orame). Siebe Kramer (NED) and Gold Digger, a KWPN stallion by Nabab de Reve took third place
The five-year-old horses had a competition against the clock and it was Eric van der Vleuten Jr., who was second to last to go, to take victory. Eric and his KWPN mare Helga-Utopia (Zirocco Blue VDL x Haarlem) were over a second faster than Australia’s James Paterson-Robinson and directed them to the runner-up spot. Eric is very happy with his mare, who he rides since the end of last year. Last week they also won a class in the six-year-old competition.
Tim Franssen took third place with Clindoeil A Mormoulin (v. Diamant de Semilly) for the Netherlands.
