Release date: 09/05/2017

The second day offered again great sport with victories for new and young talents. Besides the sport the weather was perfect and made it pleasant for everybody to watch the sport and to enjoy themselves at the "Place du Concours".

The Big Tour class in the CSI2* (1.45m) was won by Brazil’s Eduardo Menezes with Market Irminka (Irco Mena x Tinka’s Boy). Eduardo, who lives in the USA (Carlsbad, CA) rode a clear round in 61.19 seconds. The 37-year-old professional represented Brazil at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro where the team finished fifth.
Runners-up were Egypt’s Abdel Saïd and Beauminka (NRPS, Jodokus x Akteur).  Third place also went to Brazil: Marlon Modolo Zanotelli and Celena VDL (KWPN, Mr Blue x Chin Chin).

35-year-old Bianca Schoenmakers convincingly won the 2* Medium Tour (1.40m) with her KWPN mare Dha Dha (Douglas x Roven XX). In the 17 horse jump-off Bianca, who rides for Hans Dings Stables, was over 1.5 seconds faster than runner-up Sam Hutton with the BWP mare Indra’s Twinkeling (Quadrillo x Caretano). Euro Horse rider Jos Verlooy from Belgium finished in third place with Japatero VDM (BWP, Eldorado van de Zeshoek x For Pleasure).

The 2* Small Tour class (1.35m) had 13 combinations returning to the jump-off. Among them big names such as Scott Brash, Nicola Philippaerts, Marcus Ehning and Harrie Smolders, but victory went to Aggelos Touloupis from Greece.  The 24-year-old rider, who rides for Gronwohldhof near Hamburg in Germany, rode the mare Coco Chanell 15 (Meckl, Cellestial x Quality Boy). His is trained by Antonis Petris who worked with Henk Nooren in the past. “Coco Chanell is a very nice horse who wants to win. I am careful with her and I don’t want to ask too much of her. That’s why I only compete in 1.40m competitions with her. I have three other horses for bigger competitions. It is the first time I compete here and I think it is fantastic. Everything is well organized, for both horses and riders.”
Holland’s Patrick Lemmen finished runner-up with the KWPN gelding Dadullah (Wittinger VDL x Concorde). Third place went to the world’s number 8, Scott Brash with the SHBGB gelding Cademuir (Sebastian III x Concorde).
