The second day of the Global Future Champions Week started with competitions for the seven- and eight-year-olds at the sunny Tops International Arena.

The seven-year-olds class was by Colombian Dayro Arroyave and the Selle Français gelding Vifdeva (Toulon x Diamant de Semilly).  The 36-year-old Arroyave lives in Belgium after he moved to Madrid, Spain, for two years when he was 22 years of age. He is a big fan of Belgian bred horses. The runners-up spot was for France’s Max Thirouin and his BWP gelding Jewel de Kwakenbeek (Cicero Z x Quidam de Revel). Thirouin won yesterday’s class for the eight-year-olds with Utopie Villelonguen and won another class today. Belgium’s Patrick Spits finished in third place with Bellissimo Z (ZANG, Barnako de Muze x Chin Chin).
Swedish Malin Parmler won the competition for eight-year-olds. The 32-year-old rider rode the beautiful and elegant mare Dagma (KWPN, Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve x Calvin Z), with whom she also won several classes in Valkenswaard in May. James Paterson Robinson finished, like he did yesterday,  in second place with Daylinde (KWPN, Zirocco Blue VDL x Indoctro). Holland’s Mischa Everse took third place with Dropshot (KWPN, Unaniem x Ircolando).

Holland’s Mischa Everse and her KWPN stallion Galidos (Calido I x Voltaire) won the class for five-year-olds. Mischa liked the course with its long lines which perfectly fittet her tall horse. Mischa bought the stallion as a foal at an auction. “It was such a beautiful foal, I just had to have him,” said Mischa afterwards. “He has a great character,  is very easy and thinks along with you. In his mind he could handle top level competitions, but you never know what will happen in the future, we will see.”  Second place went to  Geert-Jan Boer (NED) and Go Eldor (KWPN, Eldorado van de Zeshoek x Verdi) followed by Sweden’s Malin Parmler and Happy-Hom (DWB, Heartbeat x Carano).

Today Frenchman Max Thirouin showed again how important experience is by winning for the second time. He won the class for the six-year-olds with his mare Aurore de la Rose (Felton du Mont Charles de Gaul x Narcos II). He got to ride the mare last April and she arrived at his stables a month ago. “I mainly did some groundwork with her the past few weeks and tried to make her mentally stronger, she is quite sensitive,” said Max. “She did so well today, I am really super happy and proud.” Holland’s Geert-Jan Boer finished second again, this time with Flower (Hann, Stakkato). Third place went to his compatriot Kars Bonhof and Fuji (KWPN, Verdi x Lord Lepanto).
