Day 2: top performances at TIA

The second day of the first event at Tops International Arena saw several riders confirm their form as they repeated their winning performance today.The CSI2* Big Tour competition, counting for the Longines Rankings, was won by Dutch rider Harrie Smolders. He was the fastest with the 11-year-old gelding Aiyetoro (KWPN, Concorde x Colino). Belgium’s Pieter Devos was in the lead for a long time with Haloubet Hitchcock (BWP, Baloubet du Rouet x Heartbreaker), but at the end he had to settle for third place. Switzerland’s Fabio Crotta took risks to beat Smolder’s time but lacked some speed and finished runner-up.
Top scorer so far is Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano, who won two classes yesterday and this morning he also won the second competition for six-year-olds with Darlanda. The five-year-old division was won by Dutch rider Sander Geerink with Galita O. Belgium’s Stephanie Andries took top honours in the seven-year-old competition with Javenia.
Alexander Hufenstuhl (Germany), Tim Wilks (Great Britain) and Malin Parmler (Sweden) experienced their second victory today. Malin won the CSI2* Medium Tour with Dagma, Tim won the CSI2* Medium Tour with Inca Boy van ’t Vianahof and Alexander was in front in the CSI1* Big Tour competition with Desteny.
Anne Botella and her horse Thydia Dhere secured a victory for France in the CSI1* Small Tour (1.15m) class. Today’s last competition, the CSI1* Medium Tour, was won by Belgium’s Patrick Jongmans and Hip Hop Van Langwater.
Tomorrow another 9 competitions are scheduled and the first combinations will enter the arenas of the beautiful facilities I Valkenswaard at 8 am.
