Christina was born in Stuttgart, Germany, but moved to Bulle, Switzerland in 1981 at age two. She began riding ponies at age eight in Hauteville, Switzerland and got her first pony at age nine and her first 'real' horse at age eleven. Christina competed in the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games, picking up a Team Bronze medal in 2008. Unfortunately in 2011, her top horse No Mercy was then injured and Christina was wihtout a Grand Prix ride.
After a year and a half away from competition she said she was more concerned that her riding had stagnated than by her drop in the rankings, so she spent three months training in Germany with Ludger Beerbaum in the hope of giving her career new impetus and has worked her way back to world-class level with new horses.
