The child of avid horse lovers, Beezie (short for Elizabeth) grew up visiting the stable every day. In 1989 she was named the United States Olympic Committee [USOC] Female Equestrian Athlete of the Year. Many years later, Beezie enjoys an outstanding career profile, with highlights including Olympic and World Championship medals. In 2004 she became the first woman, and the first US rider, to reach the top three in the Longines Rankings.
Beezie cites her husband John, who helps her with training and managing the horses, as her biggest inspiration. Her advice to other riders is to “learn all aspects of horsemanship. No job is beneath you when you are growing up.” She and her husband run the John Madden Sales farm in Cazenovia, NY
