Profielen
As a teenager in Ireland he started training and looking after horses at a local stable under the guidance of Eddie Macken and Iris Kellett. Born in Liverpool, England, Peter’s international career began at the age of 21 under the Union Flag when he competed in the Hickstead Derby. Three decades later, his CV includes an Olympic team gold medal, two European gold medals, over 50 grands prix wins, three Hickstead Derby victories and more than 100 Nations Cup team appearances.
In 1992, Peter began competing for Ireland. Three years later he formed part of the Irish winning Nations Cup teams at Aachen, Dublin and Spruce Meadows. In 2005, Peter became Team Murka’s principal rider. However, two years later, he broke vertebrae in a fall at a British national competition. During his recovery from the injury, Peter reverted back to British nationality. At the 2012 London Olympic Games, Peter helped secure Team Gold with Murka's Vindicat W for the British team, jumping clear as the last rider in the jump-off.
