José is not a professional rider, instead show jumping is his passion and hobby. He learned to ride from aged 10 and stopped 18 to pursue his education and career in business, taking up the sport again at age 28.
Born a Mexican, he switched nationailty when he settled in Aachen, Germany to be closer to the very highest levels of the sport he loves. He began his international riding career in 2006 competing for El Salvador in the World Equestrian Games in Aachen. He competed in the Pan American Games the following year, represented El Salvador in the 2010 World Equestrian Games, Kentucky and in the 2011 Pan America Games where he finished 44th individually.
José is Vice President of equestrian events company Oxer Sport and President of worldwide trade marketing group GRUPOPROM.
