  • From: Bordon
  • Age: 63

At the age of 4, when he was playing in a field a pony stood on Mark's face and broke his jaw. His parents bought him a pony when he was seven to regain his confidence and he was hooked, although sometimes he wishes they bought him a golf club.

After training in Ireland for 18 months in the early 80's, Mark returned to England and went to work for Fred Welch. During his six years at these Hampshire Stables, Mark competed for the first time on a Nations' Cup team in 1987.

From January to December, 1992, Mark progressed from 100th place in the B.S.J.A. (British Show Jumping Association) to 19th. Following his rapid rise, he was then placed on the 1993 European Championship team in Gijon, Spain that won the silver medal. He was also a member of the 2001 European team travelling to Arnhem and the 2003 World Championship team in Jerez.
